Peter DeCaprio poisons Cohasset Water’s RFP

What a difference a day makes.
Tinytownunleashed.com received an interesting call from Cohasset Selectman Chair Ted Carr Wednesday, February 8 around 5PM.
Carr said two counsels, Town Counsel Paul DeRensis (we just learned from Carr that the Town is advertising an RFP to replace Town Counsel next month) and Cohasset Water’s Special Counsel Jay Talerman have opined that the publication of Cohasset Water’s Draft of the RFP on Tinytownunleashed.com could stop Cohasset Water’s concession agreement from proceeding in time for Annual Town Meeting or stop it altogether. Carr asked if we would take it down. No way.
First of all, we are not taking it down because it has already been published and removing it from our site will not change that fact. Typical Selectman trick. If Tinytown doesn’t report the tree fell in the woods maybe it didn’t fall after-all. Sorry. It’s an old story and the answer is – it fell, Carr. Big Time. I only hope that you are correct that if we don’t take it down it could die forever. Then Tinytown would be a hero or heroine, right?
Over the past weeks Cohasset Water Chairman Peter DeCaprio gave copies of the Draft RFP to everyone – members of town boards, Cohasset Capital Budget, special citizen friends. DeCaprio poisoned the Draft RFP early on; it was not me, Carr. It was DeCaprio. Can’t keep his mouth shut. Everything the Boston Globe, the Patriot Ledger, the Cohasset Mariner and the Tinytown Gazette learned about DeCaprio they learned FROM DeCaprio. Talk to him long enough and he blabs about everything.
DeCaprio’s big mouth is not my problem, he’ s the Town’s problem. The Town’s REALLY bad boy threatened to “take care of me” at a selectmen’s meeting right in front of the board of selectmen. What is that supposed to mean? He is going to pay me? Kill me? Ruin me?
Tinytowngazette.com and Tinytownunleashed.com delight in being the potential killers of Cohasset Water Company’s RFT and/or Concession agreement with a future investor who will (and this is not in our imagination) harvest our Town of its water and reap ALL of its growth. When you are given power take it, we always say.
It isn’t often a newspaper is given the opportunity to kill a hedge fund.
In related news. We are sad to report that Town Manager Mike Coughlin was given his marching orders in an executive session Tuesday night. He was told to resign or be fired.
We have written Coughlin in as the Cohasset Mariner’s Person of the Year. He is as honest and ethical as the day is long and of course he could never fit in with this Town. We are fortunate in having him for the “while” that we did. If he is not the Mariner’s person, he’s ours.
Thank you, Mike.

The fact that Coughlin is being let go shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. DeCaprio and company have made this their mission in life and the selectmen, who allowed this situation to get out of control in the first place, will now take the path of least resistance (or so they think) and dismiss Coughlin. Interestingly, the same person (DeCaprio) who Ted Carr wrote his fluff piece about in the Mariner, alleging that he has come under personal attack, was quoted in the Globe calling Coughlin a “megalomaniac idiot.” What did the selectmen say about those comments at Tuesday’s meeting? Nothing. Did they tell him his comments were out of order and won’t be tolerated in town affairs? Of course not. Remember when the selectmen signed the town wide anti-bullying pact? Nice job and great example for the kids in this town, for DeCaprio for saying it and selectmen for not addressing it and let me get this straight, DeCaprio is a real professional and we should be glad to have him, right? Give me a break. I’m embarrased to live in this town and I’m disgusted with town government. This fiasco of DeCaprio flexing his power, which only exists because the selectmen permit him to wield it, and Coughlin’s demise, will once again cost this town thousands. By the way Tanna, you should report DeCaprio’s comments to the police so it’s on file in case he escalates his offensive behavior toward you.

If the BoS get rid of Coughlin for blowing the whistle on this RFP scam, Coughlin will own this town. Better notify the insurance company, again…
DeCaprio should be reported to the police for making threats. Spoiled brats that don’t get their way can be dangerous. Just sayin.
