I beg your used mercies. I updated this when I put out the Dec. 05 print edition of the Tinytown Gazette this weekend and have added more pertinent information. If you can stand another read-through – it might be worth it. Milanoskicontract

Cohasset Police Chief DeLuca's hearing may be Tuesday

Posted in Cohasset Selectmen, Governance, Police Chief Mark DeLuca at 12:57 PM by Tanna K

Cohasset Mariner on-line is reporting that a “hearing” for Cohasset Police Chief Mark DeLuca, who has been on paid administrative leave since May 25, 2012, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27th.  If so, and if the Cohasset Selectmen are attending, it will most likely be held at either of the executive sessions posted on both ends of the Selectmen’s agenda.

A decision on whether the DeLuca hearing will be open or closed has not yet been determined, according to the Mariner report. It is actually DeLuca who determines whether it is open or closed. It should be noted that Acting Town Manager Mike Milanoski, who put DeLuca on paid administrative leave last May was not officially acting in any capacity when he did so. Milanoski’s illegal Town Manager contract with the town was signed on June 26th.

DeLuca has been collecting $2,500 a week since the end of May, a time during which police overtime is skyrocketing and we could use an extra guy or two or three. When the reality of excessive police overtime happened during former town manager Mike Coughlin’s reign selectmen called in the specialized Cat Dam troops to study things. Now that Mr. Milanoski is in charge … not to worry. Quote from Milanoski at a recent meeting: “The numbers show that overtime is less expensive than headcount.” I thought we learned that last year.

In related news…it appears the Special Annual Town Meeting slated for Dec. 10th is still “on,” although it may be continued to Dec. 18th.  Can’t we get it a little closer to Christmas so we can disenfranchise the entire Town?

Several months ago a group of citizens planned to place a petition article on Special Town Meeting warrant only to discover that the time had passed. We thought we had missed it. When meeting minutes caught up to the town of Cohasset website we discovered that Selectmen had never voted to open the warrant. Selectmen Martha Gjesteby questioned illegal town manager Mike Milanoski about this oversight at several meetings.  He babbled something about placing an ad in the Mariner and something else. But actually, it never happened.

…just Cohasset citizens being disenfranchised, again, by the most transparent (self-styled) board of selectmen in the history of Cohasset.

DOR tells Cohasset Governance a thing or two..or three

Posted in Governance, Tanna Kasperowicz at 8:14 PM by Tanna K

Governance’s meeting with the Department of Revenue  (DOR) at the committee’s early morning Thursday meeting was informative and instructive. More fun is in the offing…former selectwoman Ronnie McMorris said she would ask to be appointed to Governance in January.

Cohasset Selectmen move to make Town Manager contract legal

Posted in Cohasset Selectmen, Governance, Tom Wolf at 4:40 PM by Tom Wolf

Last night’s BoS meeting lent great clarity to the major preoccupation of this Fall: just how were the Selectman, having executed an illegal contract with Acting Town Manager Milanoski, going to allow Milanoski to continue as Town Manager?

...a press release from the Cohasset Board of Selectmen

Posted in Cohasset Selectmen, Uncategorized at 11:17 AM by Tanna K

The Cohasset Board of Selectmen unanimously approved this press release on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

Two weeks ago the Massachusetts Department of Revenue certified Cohasset’s free cash as of June 30.  The free cash is $958,000, a sharp turnaround from the $600,000 appropriations deficit the finance department was forecasting during the winter.  While having free cash certified is important for many reasons including building our reserves up to municipal standards, there is a broader story here that bears telling.

Age Discrimination Complaint filed against Cohasset

Posted in Tanna Kasperowicz at 5:28 PM by Tanna K

Tinytown Unleashed learned late on election day that Mark Brennan, former special assistant to the illegal Town Manager, has filed an age  discrimination suit against the Town and its illegal Town Manager, Michael Milanoski. The complaint was filed October 18th., 2012. This comes at a particularly awkward time for Milanoski, and the board of selectmen, as they anticipate a lawsuit from former Town Manager Mike Coughlin, which will be filed before Christmas. Also, a  suspended police chief is waiting in the wings. It is thought that suspended police chief  Mark DeLuca will ask for a hearing in January.

In related Milanoski news, Selectman would like to change the Town Manager’s Act at the Dec. 10th special meeting in order to make their contract with Milanoski valid. But with all the controversy stirring, it might not be a great time to ask Town Meeting to relax the rules for their very special guy who has caused turmoil and division at Cohasset Town Hall.
